Records should always be kept clean. Oil on the surface of records will cause the accumulation of dust and dirt. Since everyone's hands have a small amount of natural oils in the skin, it is always best to handle records by the center hole and outer edge.
Dust and dirt which stay on the records will appreciably shorten the life of the needle and interfere with the Fidelity of your sound system. Vinyl records, particularly those which are less than .025 inch thick, warp easily at high temperature. Never store such records where the temperature is above 120 degrees Fahrenheit. It is often this hot in direct sunlight or in closed trucks and cars during the summer months.
You can be sure of top performance if flat records are used. Buy only standard commercial records to use in your jukebox.
Be sure to check the records by trying them on the turntable hub to make certain that they will not stick. (Flat turntables only)
A good guide for getting the best performance from your records is:
1. Keep your records clean.
2. Handle them only by the edges and center hole.
3. Keep them away from high temperatures to prevent warping.
4. Use only standard commercial records.
5. Make sure the ·center hole has no rough edges.
As a general rule, jukeboxes are not delicate with records, if you have highly prized and or rare records, it is suggested you do not use them in any jukebox.
At its core, your jukebox is a vending machine and is designed to pull the all mighty quarter our of the patrons pocket, they are not designed to handle your prized records in a manner that befitting a rare selection, try to find a copy if possible.
