There has been a surge in jukebox popularity in recent years for collectors. Moving a large and cumbersome jukebox can be a challenge. Follow our guide to ship a jukebox safely.
If your jukebox contains records or CDs, remove them carefully from the playing mechanism. Vintage jukeboxes are extremely fragile and have a lot of moving mechanical parts. It’s important they are packed properly to ensure both the exterior and interior mechanisms arrive safely and secure. Secure any loose or moving parts. Tighten screws to make sure the jukebox is secure.
Power cords on vintage players can be ripped or damaged if they are not packed properly prior to moving your jukebox. Roll up power cords neatly and secure them with a rubber band or plastic tie. Tape the cord to the back of the jukebox or inside the cabinet.
The locks are used to keep items secure in exterior cabinets. Make sure the cabinet is locked and items from the cabinet are removed before packing. Secure the key in a safe place before you ship your jukebox.
If your jukebox contains records or CDs, remove them carefully from the playing mechanism before you move it to prevent records from breaking.
Use cardboard and bubble wrap to secure plastic and glass screens on the front of the jukebox to protect it from cracking or breaking during transport.
Utilize several moving pads to wrap and cover your jukebox. Once you’re confident the jukebox is protected, keep the pads and bubble wrap in place by wrapping it several times with shrink wrap or clear plastic.
Jukeboxes are bulky and heavy. You’ll need the assistance of at least two people to lift it and a supervisor to help guide the helpers as they transport the jukebox to a truck.
Dollies may be able to help your movers assist with transporting the jukebox to the truck. An electric gate or ramp will also assist in getting the jukebox up on the cargo bed of the truck easily.
Once you move the jukebox off the truck, it’s time to find the perfect spot for it and unwrap it. Check out the jukebox carefully and thoughtfully to make sure nothing is awry, If glass was broken during the move we suggest you DO NOT plug in and engage your jukebox, carefully put the records back into the playing mechanism Reconnect the cord to a nearby electrical outlet and wait a few moments then try to engage the jukebox
